Mena Perkins
Mena is a scenic designer and artist from Covington, LA. He has always been passionate about using theatre as a means of storytelling and has focused on achieving this through scenic design for the past five years.
He earned his BA in Visual Arts with a concentration in Theatre Design form Southeastern Louisiana University in 2023. While there he worked for two years as the assistant for the campus costume shop and spent a semester as a scenic painter.
From 2023-24 he worked as charge artist for Jefferson Performing Arts Society in New Orleans where he also worked as a costume assistant and designer by contract. During this period he scenic designed for The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company of New Orleans, Jefferson Performing Arts Society, and Independence Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA.
He now lives in Champaign, IL, attending The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in pursuit of his MFA in scenic design.
Currently he is working as charge artist for Hope Summer Repertory Theatre’s 2026 season and is looking forward to his final year at the University of Illinois.
